SQUARING THE CIRCLE III.

Handbook for the museum education programs of the Deák17 Youth Art Gallery in 2019 and 2020.

I would like to invite all teachers to browse this book for inspirational ideas and guidance. Although it might seem that the activities are designed mostly for young learners and teenagers, they are actually excellent resources for teachers and teacher trainees as well. Indeed, it is best to take a look at them through different lenses. As museum specialist Pauelette McManus points out, we take various roles during our visits to an exhibition, depending on how we visit them: alone, with children, as a couple or in adult social groups. Every visit will open up new meanings and create new experiences. I suggest that first you look at the activities as someone who is simply interested in creative ideas. Then, depending on your aims, you can think about the activities as a teacher or a parent who would like to create memorable yet informal learning experiences for others. The activities here will guarantee that your students explore, share and discuss new ideas, often surprising and challenging themselves in unexpected ways. All of these experiences contribute to the development creative and critical thinking skills, and they will also make teachers and students feel motivated and inspired at the same time.” – Nóra NAGY, university instructor, applied linguist (excerpt from the dedication of the book)

We recommend our book to all those primary and high school teachers, who would like to enrich their daily classes with various creative methods or discover new methods of organizing knowledge. We hope that not only teachers working in art education and children with special educational needs will find it useful, but also parents and grandparents who would like to make the time spent with their children more colorful.
